Process patient forms, OCR prescriptions, redact identifiers for research, share documents with stakeholders. GDPR-compliant for EU healthcare.
Healthcare providers handle the most sensitive documents in any industry โ patient records, prescriptions, insurance forms, clinical notes, and research data. Every document has privacy, compliance, and safety implications.
Konomic is built on a privacy-first foundation โ EU servers, 1-hour auto-deletion, no AI training on user data. For EU healthcare (GDPR) and research/administrative workflows where PHI is not directly involved, Konomic is a strong fit. For US HIPAA-regulated patient workflows, see the compliance note below.
OCR scanned intake forms to extract structured data for EHR import.
OCR old paper prescriptions for archival and pharmacist reference.
Permanently redact patient identifiers from clinical research PDFs before publication.
OCR and extract data from scanned insurance claims and EOBs.
Send non-PHI contracts (vendor agreements, HR forms) for e-signature.
Merge multiple PDFs into organized patient records with pagination.
Tesseract 5 with medical-adjacent vocabulary. 100+ languages for international patients.
True redaction for HIPAA de-identification (remove 18 identifiers before research use).
Extract claim data, lab results, billing info from scanned forms.
AES-256 encryption for sensitive administrative documents.
Compile patient records, research packets, audit documentation.
For non-PHI documents: vendor contracts, HR forms, research consent (with care).
That said, Konomic is still useful for US healthcare organizations for non-PHI workflows:
If you need HIPAA-covered workflows, email us โ we may be able to recommend a combined stack.
โOur hospital's admin team uses Konomic for non-PHI document work โ vendor contracts, HR onboarding, research paper anonymization. It saves us from paying for a full enterprise stack just for document processing.โ
Not currently. We do not sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). For US PHI workflows, use DocuSign, SignNow, or PandaDoc Business which all offer BAAs. Konomic is suitable for non-PHI healthcare workflows and EU healthcare under GDPR.
Yes, for most uses. Konomic is GDPR-compliant with EU-only servers. For Article 9 special category data (health data), ensure you have a proper legal basis (explicit consent, vital interests, etc.) and document your processing activities.
Yes. Our Redact PDF tool permanently removes text and can be used to de-identify patient records for research use. For US HIPAA de-identification, follow the 18-identifier Safe Harbor method or Expert Determination.
On clean printed documents (prescriptions, forms, reports) at 300+ DPI, accuracy is 95-99%. Handwritten medical notes are weaker โ Tesseract struggles with cursive. For handwriting-heavy workflows, a dedicated medical OCR service is better.
Not directly. Konomic provides a REST API on the Business tier that can be wrapped into custom integrations. For standard EHRs (Epic, Cerner), build a middleware layer that calls Konomic for document processing.
For EU healthcare, Konomic Sign Request can collect patient consent with full audit trail โ compliant with eIDAS. For US HIPAA, use a HIPAA-compliant signature service. Both require your clinical documentation to comply with informed consent standards beyond just the signature itself.
