JPG — universal and small, best for photos and uploads. PNG — lossless with transparency, best for logos and editing. WebP — smallest of all, best for websites; not accepted by some older software, which is usually why you're converting away from it.
JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background — the result most people expect. Converting to PNG or WebP keeps transparency intact.
JPG and WebP output is saved at quality 90 — visually identical for photos. PNG output is lossless. EXIF orientation is applied so nothing comes out sideways.
